This training day has no Assessment Component
This 1 day course is specifically designed for the EN, Anaesthetic tech, student nurses and student Medical Officers. As a valuable participant in bedside emergencies, it is essential to be familiar with the principles and skills involved in resuscitation. We will examine ANZCOR guidelines, and participate at skill stations.
We will discuss:
Recognition of cardiac arrest / Basic and Advanced Life Support Algorithms
Shockable vs Non Shockable Cardiac Arrest
Safety and COACHED method of Defibrillation
Principles and equipment for advanced airway management
Medications and their role in ALS – Including drawing up hints
Discussion and demonstration of Intraosseous Placement
ALS Case Studies
For: Enrolled Nurses / RN / Anaesthetic Techs / Students (Nursing and Medical)
NOTE: This day does not “Accredit” participants to implement manual defibrillation or initiate medication therapy – Every practitioner is responsible for knowing and adhering to their scope of practice, and knowing and adhering to employer guidelines and protocols. The purpose of this day is to equip the participants to contribute confidently in a resuscitation environment.
